A Technical and Stylistic Study of Travelogues

Abstract

Travel is a very important part of human life. Since time immemorial, every human used to travel from one place to another and would save the events and observations that occurred during the journey in his heart and mind and on his return, he would include other people in his travel experiences. This desire to tell a story led to the writing of travelogue. A travelogue is a narrative genre of prose literature in which a traveler describes in writing the events, experiences, and observations he has witnessed. It not only describes external conditions, but also expresses internal emotions and feelings. Travelogue is a very important genre of Urdu literature and by the time it qualitity and quality is increasing. This article discuses Urdu travelogues, its numerous techniques and styles.
