Following Turkey's democratic transition after 1960, Turkish literature underwent significant thematic and stylistic changes. Among the prominent writers of this period, Füruzan emerged as a distinctive voice of social realism. Her works portray the lives of peasants, labourers, migrants, women, and other marginalized groups, addressing issues such as class conflict, migration, social inequality, gender relations, and alienation. While highlighting social realities, she also explores the emotional and psychological dimensions of individual experience.Through her sensitive and realistic depiction of society, Füruzan secured a significant place in modern Turkish literature. Many of the themes and concerns reflected in her fiction—particularly social injustice, migration, poverty, and human relationships—resonate with those found in Urdu short fiction. This study examines Füruzan's contribution to social realism in Turkish literature and identifies the shared thematic trends between her works and Urdu short fiction.
